Last week The Sunday Times Style magazine announced the 22 winners of the 2017 Beauty awards. Almost 1 million votes were cast and here are my picks that caught my eye – ones I currently use and ones I have ordered!!!

  • Like Marilyn and myself (!) we all need to have a bottle of Chanel No 5 and whilst the original won the Classic award n’est pas, Chanel’s latest fragrance No 5 L’Eau was awarded Best Women’s Fragrance. It aims to capture the younger, millennial audience. The scent was developed by Olivier Polge as a light and fresh interpretation of the sophisticated original, featuring prominent note of May rose from Grasse. With top notes: lemon, mandarin, orange, neroli and aldehydes. Heart: rose, ylang-ylang, jasmine and base notes: cedar, white musk – it is a nice light change for the summer.
  • Best mascara went to Benefit They’re Real – My lashes always look long and separated and always get comments
  • One brand really stood out for me – The Ordinary. They won Best anti-ageing brand so naturally I did some extra research. I am always willing to look at other brands to give my skin a break from the usual. Reviews are unanimous – good, great value and does the job. However for cheap is only cheap if it actually works. Like research has pointed out paracetamol works just as well in the 39p boxes as it does in the branded expensive packets… So I have decided to try (To be clear I am not being sponsored)
    • Buffet by The Ordinary (30-ml)
    • Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 by The Ordinary (30-ml)
    • 100% Plant-Derived Squalane by The Ordinary (30-ml)
    • Salicylic Acid 2% Solution by The Ordinary (15-ml)

I will update you in a few weeks time…
